Diet Coke Nutrition Facts The Best Fat Loss Diet Rule - Eliminate Soda.
As a member of the Jacqueline Nauvall Institute of Health, we cover lots of topics - How to Lose Fat Fast using our famous CRR program; Effective Exercise (including strength training), Nutrition and Supplements that will help you lose weight fast; and Relaxation techniques that will help you burn belly fat - just to name a few. Today, I want to discuss one of the most popular drinks in the world - a drink that most times even surpasses water. You can get easy access to this drink at restaurants, bars, office break rooms, schools, your homes, and yes, even at hospitals, all across the country. What is it?
Soda
Some call it soda pop, soda water, coke, cola - but it really is all the same. The main ingredients in this Mega "Gotta Have It Now" drink are sugar, excessive empty calories and sodium. Do me a huge favor. In fact, do yourself a favor when you walk the aisles at your local store - read the labels on the beverage you are thinking of buying for yourself, and for your family.
When I read labels, my primary focus is the sugar content - "How many empty calories am I actually going to be consuming?" When you read the labels, you will find that the calories in this waistline-busting drink you're about to consume is, on average, 150 calories for each 12 fluid ounce can of soda. 150 calories! If you're limited to eating 1500 calories for the day, there goes 10% - all in a can of soda that will most probably increase your hunger and thirst rather than satisfy you for any long period of time. That single 150 calorie drink will definitely have a huge impact on how you will be able to eat for the remainder of the day.
Consuming excess sugar can lead to obesity, heart conditions, cavities in teeth, bone degeneration and, of course it is the main culprit behind diabetes. At The Jacqueline Nauvall Institute of Health, we promote proper eating habits in order to even out your blood sugar and insulin release levels throughout the day. That is why we promote eating about five to six times a day. If you are on our How To Get Thin Fast program or any of our other weight management programs, once you consume this huge 150 empty calorie soda, the less chance you have to enjoy some of the many healthy, satisfying and metabolic boosting recipes we offer on our How To Get Thin Fast program.
Remember - In order to lose weight you must burn more calories than you consume. Let's start by eliminating any empty calories like that found in soda.
Sodium
The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, as well as the American Heart Association, recommends that salt in your daily diet is restricted to 2,400 milligrams (mg) daily for adults. To put it in perspective, 2400mg is equivalent to the amount in 1 teaspoon of salt (2,300 mg to be exact). Studies have shown that the average American consumes 5,000 mg of salt daily -- twice the necessary amount. Where does most of that sodium come from? The foods that we eat and drink. One of the biggest is Soda - which has 35 mg of sodium on average. Consume 4 of these babies and your sodium recommended intake is immediately jeopardized.
Dieting and Drinks
Regular and Diet soda is the constant companion of dieters and those who think that by splurging on dessert, they can somehow compensate by having a diet soda. Back in the day there was no question that I would consume 3 cans a day. When you're young you don't think about the foods and drinks you consume, but as you become older and hopefully wiser, you realize the impact this drink can have on your body. Just know this - 40g of sugar seems to be the appropriate amount per day for any adult to consume and still remain in good health. Yep! You heard that right - 40 g. What does that mean with relation to Soda?
Let's get a visual of just how much sugar is being consumed every time you consume a can of soda. Here is the shocking truth - This picture exposes just how much sugar is hidden in that beverage you're drinking every morning, lunch, afternoon (as a pick me up), and then probably one more at dinner.
That my friend is 41 grams of sugar, represented by 41 packets at 1 gram each - every time you consume ONE 12 ounce can of carbonated soda. Consume 4 or 5 a day and this quickly becomes between 160g - 205 g of sugar daily. No wonder we're all getting bigger!
Let's put it in perspective. The American Heart Association (AHA) recommends the following daily sugar intake for men, women and children. These are amounts that are considered healthy and not harmful for the body:
• Recommended Daily Sugar Intake for Men: 36 grams or 9 teaspoons
• Recommended Daily Sugar Intake for Women: 20 grams or 5 teaspoons
• Recommended Daily Sugar Intake for Children: 12 grams or 3 teaspoons
So our highest recommendation? If you want to lose fat fast, the best thing you can do for your fat loss diet is to cut back on all hidden sugars. Eliminate sodas from your daily meals - drink water instead with a little lemon. Take back control of your eating habits and read all labels.
